Standing on the subway platform I,
Think of yesterday,
When I raised my hand in math class
Without thinking about it.
Or when Mr. Pleasant asked for a volunteer
And before I knew it,
I was it.
And so knowing of my impulsive decisions,
I just may jump.

The author's comments:
Although I stand on a subway platform twice a day, I still have a little bit of an apprehension to it. A little stumble over your own toes could have you stumbling onto the tracks in a second. Each time I am on the platform, the idea of death and jumping inevitably come across my mind.
