Beyond our Recognition
My jaw clenches tight when my eyes lay upon you
A strange sickness washes over
With an unwarranted familiarity
Drifted into a distant setting, intertwined deeply within
Like an old black and white film
Playing against my weary eyelids
Cold, hard skin struggling for warmth
Trying to suppress
Yet with no such luck
Your warm, oaky arms draped over
Fresh dewy scent is imprinted
And the deep hazel gaze
A fortress for the weak
As I watch the beautifully delicate movements
Of the strongly penciled lines amongst your skin
Secrets passed in the longest hours of the night
Warm breath against my shoulder
An evolution in its strangest sense
Yet it was beyond the both of us
Still it rings in my ears
Rattling my fine, brittle bones
Setting fire in my heart
My eyes lay upon you
Slight pull
As a smile gently sweeps across
