Wings
I remember the day
 Childhood came
 Singing songs of life
 The greatest kind of all

 It brought play dough
 Coloring books
It even brought my favorite dolls
 And a brand new smile

 It came on wings
 Of every color
 Rose with the wind
 As it flew

 Sent from God
 My childhood
 A gift I never
 Thought would die

 But then one day
 Its wings were torn
 And childhood
 Could fly no more

 I sat and wept
 For what was lost
 And said hello
 To a new life

 Adulthood came
 On bigger wings
 Carrying more
 Than I could handle

 And so this lesson
 Stays with me still
 When childhood comes
Don't let it pass you by
