Fire Dance
Yellow and orange
 Dance
 The summer dance
 Between the branches
 Of the trees

 In the moonlight
 They spread warmth
 And light
 The music stops
 Orange asks yellow
 For another dance

 The courting couple
Dance on the rooftops on homes
 Children and parents
 Come out to the
 Yard
 Mouths agape
 To watch them

By the light of the moon
 They leap from house
 To house
 Haystack
 To haystack

 No one can
 Stop them
 They will dance all night
 Until they burn out

 As they are dancing
 They’re leaving behind
 Trails
 Trails that spread
 They spread more fire dancers

 Yellow and orange
 Dance
 Dance through the forest
 On the soft grass

 The longer they dance
 The faster the
 Music
 The more trails they
 Spread

 The new dancers
 Begin to
 Change
 Color

 From orange
 To blue
 From yellow
 To green

 They all choose
 Partners
 And begin to dance

 Yellow and orange
 Come to a stand-
 still
 A wide river blocks
 Their
 Path

 Each dances to a
 Narrow boat
 And pushes off

 They dance on
 Their boats
  They dance them
 Clean through

 And fall
 As their souls
 Rise
 From the water
