When Will My Next Dream Be?

When will my next dream be?
the last died a long time ago
it was swept with the windstorm
it sits at the bottom of the gutter
covered by filters and detours
piled to the point of helplessness
It's hard to keep wishing
when the stars won't come out at night
my desire is strong; but for what?
I need a new star to reach for
one that won't hide or play games
one that will stay in sight all hours of the day
So I know my heart is true
so I know what I'm wishing for
So I know it's possible to reach
