The shell sits

Embedded in the crystals of the beach.

Water reaches for it’s red skin

Like a bird dives for red fish.

The shell waits to be taken

By the passionate sea.

It’s inviting.

But the sea teases

And leaves the shell

To nearby birds

Diving for red shells.

Supposed to be a metaphor for a teasing relationships, this poem was inspired by a picture of a shell covered in sand & a certain guy on the mind.
