The grass peeps out from the heap of dark leaves.
The once pure emerald color
now giving way to withered hues.
The birds all flee
this desolate graveyard.
Nothing divine
has been spared from nature’s
cruel rampage. Gone are the
berries from the bush,
gone are the fragrant flowers,
the warm summer days.
Gone too are the dry red, orange, and brown
crunchy leaves scattered about the ground.

Here to stay are
chipped and faded nativity scenes,
burnt out lights of every color,
and frost that nips the nose.

Also, here comes that first
magical snow flake falling to the soft ground,
sweet carols,
moonlit sleigh rides,
precious time spent huddled for warmth with the family
and love.

Gone are the berries,
the flowers,
and the leaves.
To get something better,
everyone must make small sacrifices.
Let life take it’s path, dance out of its way.
Give happiness, and get joy,
give peace, and get harmony.
Give love, and get love.
The most special time of year.
Here comes love.

This is so beautiful!  I love the descriptions, the "waiting" sense.  Great job!
