As I Slept...I Dreamed

It was a scarlet moon
And a sapphire sky
And diamond pebbles scintillating radiant against the blue
It was laughing flowers
And grass soft as silk
And ageless paper butterflies floating sleepily to the earth
It was a gentle whisper
And drums softly pounding
And humming voices singing ceaseless songs of love and water
It was black and red
And a creeping hiss
And nameless wandering crawlers slithering through shadows
It was many lights
And pink delicate and pale
And white to curve the circle fastened round the endless lace
It was a tiny thread
And jet ink drop on paper
And story woven deep with wool in purple crimson pattern
It was a grey stone
And brown dirt crumbling
And footprints beckoning hesitant to lead me on to the end
It was little birds
And little souls that fly
And my heart that echoed with the beat of where I was to go
