Stabbing numbness
Bloodstained tears
Haunted
By the memories
Tortured
By what could have been
Afraid
To sleep
Unable
To wake up
Reality becomes pain
Fantasy becomes escape

Scarred wrists
Undeserved bliss
Screaming
From the pain
Terrified
Of the darkness
Shield
Held high
Defenses
At the ready
Reality becomes pain
Fantasy becomes escape

Wrapped in despair
Caught in a nightmare
Doomed
To death
Undeserving
Of such an escape
Tears
Flowing faster
Refuge
Found nowhere
Reality becomes pain
Fantasy becomes escape
