Sing to me
I have taken notice of you
in your great state of anguish.
 Caressing a distressed, half-dead delphinium.
 Consantly nudging petals and leaves,
trying to give back the image of the life
 you had once witnessed.

 Poor formidable you.
Your lips are drained of youth,
as are the words that spill from them.
 They are splinted and limb
 often falling to your feet,
 and crawling in between
 the delphinium's faltering flower clusters.
