I am a bird
trapped in a cage of expectancy

I am not free to leave my respectability
I am restrained to a job
I am tied to money
I am merely an object of aspiration
This revelation is my plight
I am glued
to the ground that grounded me
this is my fright
I am the hostage of struggle
doomed to ordinary
tatooed with routine
black and blue with rebellion
a stricken warrior
who failed to see
that I am only as free
As the world will have me be.
