love was the summer
Love was the summer
It was the hill you took me to when I needed to get away
When I stood over the edge and was tempted to let go

Love was when you always pulled me back
And whispered that you would always be there
When you wrapped me into you and the world melted away

Love was the places you took me
When I was afraid to go
But I went anyways because you were everything to me

Love was when I let myself fall
Because I knew you were there to catch me
And your arms were the solution to all my problems

 Love was the sun
That always shined a little brighter when I was with you
And the days where I could breathe easier when I knew you’d be there

 Love was the rainstorm
Where the drops mixed with my tears that I couldn’t hide from you
But you accepted that I was broken and danced with me under the clouds

 Love was the lake
Where you took me when the hill wasn’t enough to keep the tears away
When we would lie on the grass and let the sun dry away our problems

 Love was the stars
The night you told me you would soon only be a memory
And gave me something that I could never forget

 Love was the pain
That hit me harder than life when I realized you weren’t forever
That even you would have to end…and take part of me with you

 Love was you
And the secret place where I hide these memories away now
Because I’m ashamed of how weak I was with you

Love was nothing it should have been
And it shouldn’t hurt this much now that it’s gone
And I shouldn’t want to hide it away like it never existed

 Love was the summer
That I wish had never happened…
