Favorite Quote:
"We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give" Winston Churchill

The bomb exploded
leaving little lily
abandoned.
All alone she walked.
Her small body suffered
with cold and hunger.
Her throat itched
with thirst.
Her heart ached
for love.
With nowhere to
go she walked
passing only ruins
and extreme poverty.

I imagined what it would feel like to live in Hiroshima and Nagasaki after the World War II bombing in 1945. I thought the best word to describe the experience was "destitute" and I used inspiration from photos and stories to write this poem.
