There are whispers and rumours
But please believe the truth
The righteous can keep watching for
Betrayal is a rose that can never bloom

“Tell him everything…she already knows”
A bittersweet voice, from this rose I hold
Thorns prick and the pressure builds
And from my heart, spills:

Those little things I could never say
When she was with you
All the lies the righteous thought
Well, turns out they were true

But as you turn away
The rose, my heart, weeps dry petals for it knew
Betrayal is a rose that can never bloom

The author's comments:
It is scorned upon, yet dangerously seductive to be the "other woman". This piece discusses the harsh realities of such a relationship, and the often brutal outcome.
