Spray-on tans
And fabric that’s
Synthetic,
A competition that’s so
Phony it’s absolutely
Pathetic.
Tiny girls all
Dressed to
Impress,
The panel of judges
That ultimately
Possess,
The fate of these
Delicate porcelain
Dolls.
The ones whose mothers
Lovingly
Extol.
The sight of such a
Scene makes me
Sick.
It’s the buzzing in my head
An awfully annoying
Tick.
Dressed and prepped
Are these young
Girls,
Make-up on their faces.
Their hair up in
Curls.
They prance around the stage
Like a pretty little
Pansy.
Twinkling eyes and smiles
Reminding me of sweet
Jon Benet Ramsey.
Too bad their provocative dancing
Makes them look like miniature
Skanks.
Everything from their eyelashes
To their nails scream
Fake.
Really, it’s not about
These girls or any
Others,
But those reliving childhood
Through their daughters, those crazy
Mothers.
