Insecurities of a Teenager
"You have beautiful eyes"
That is what my friend tells me.
One day I look in the mirror
 And say,
 "Maybe she's right."
Next day I look in the mirror
 And say,
 "She's wrong."

 "You are beautiful."
That is what my mother tells me.
One day I look in the mirror
 And say,
 "Maybe she's right."
Next day I look in the mirror
 And say,
 "She's wrong."

 "I love you."
That's what my father tells me.
One day he hugs me tight.
 I think,
 "He does."
Next day he yells at me.
 I think,
 "He doesn't."

 Such are the insecurities
 Of a teenager.
 He loves me?
 He loves me not.
 I am beautiful,
 No I'm not.

 Today I feel confident,
So maybe I'm beautiful, maybe he loves me.
 Tomorrow I might be down,
So maybe I won't be beautiful, and maybe he won't love me.
