This is Why I Love it Here
We were riding through the tunnel
That was cut right into a mountain side
I asked him if he missed it
Or if he even remembered it
He grinned
And said that once you come out the other side,
It’s like a land time forgot
The technology was less advanced and plants grew wild
Spidery vines crept up the steep mountain sides
He told me that is something that you never forget
He magically described the smell of fog in the morning
Lifting up as each being awoke
He rolled down the window
And let it come in
The fresh smell burst into my nostrils
It cleared my mind
Of any troublesome thoughts
It woke me up
It rejuvenated my whole self
It was the most human I’ve seen my father in a very long time
I shall never forget this moment
For as long as I live
