Patience is a virtue
I was told
But to a five year old
It isn’t true at all
Why wait for what you can have?
A perplexing concept
I could not understand
Yet I was told to sit and wait
Smell the flowers
Enjoy ignorance
Another saying that soared overhead
And so I waited
And waited
Then I began to notice
Things flying by
And all too soon
My patience grew
But ignorance diminished
And I grew not up
But down
