in the rain
sat alone
and distressed.

In the rain
the cat sat,
and distressed
over the future.

The cat sat
while pondering
over the future
events to come.

While pondering
the unknown
events to come,
out came the sun.

The unknown
sat alone;
out came the son’s
abandoned cat.
