She was watching the evening
as it colored the sidewalk
which was feeling the footsteps
of the man who was walking
past her apartment
from below
watching her,
and for a moment
saw himself there
in some imaginary years
knowing her better than anyone
but kept walking,
done watching, still dreaming.
