Sacrifice
Again and again the leaves turn

 They fall and die

 They are cold and frozen

The soul diminishes the light fades

Spring arrives and a bud is formed

Green protrudes from the now gray forests

 Healthy beings welcome visitors

 An entrance way is formed

 Reaching out, take your hand

Guide you, twirl you, entice you

 But it’s a trick

An array of textures meet your hands

The rough bark of the roots rubs your skin raw along the paths

The light dips lower and lower

 Sharp thorns snag your skin

 The canopy closes in

The soft colors of before have turned harsh and dark

You turn to go back, to world you know

But you are pushed ahead, forcefully

A movement a head signals you to your arrival

You didn’t know you were going anywhere

 You were called

 And now it’s your turn

The tree of life, the power of the earth has taken you

 You are next

 Sacrifice
