"Life is not measured by the breaths you take, it is measured by the moments that take your breath away."

It’s a dream.
Nothing, but a dream.
She held his hand, only minutes until her last goodbye.
The beat from the tubes were steady: drip, drip, drip.
She closed her eyes and let her mind wander.
A warm embrace awoken her.
He was there, arms holding her tightly. Not wanting to let go.
The breathing from him could be heard from far away as both were silent.
She let out a deep sigh and tugged at the arms around her.
She wanted to cherish this moment, a moment easily forgotten.
His arms wrapped around tighter as if she was his lifeline.
She shut her eyes to stop the river that already began building inside.
I’ll be ok, he whispered in her ear.
She woke up in the hospital chair, face wet with tears.
She saw that she still held his hand as he lay on the bed; helpless.
He turned his head to look at her and gave a small smile.
Choking back tears, she said, It’s going to be ok.
I know, he said. He squeezed her hand and let Death lead him away.
She looked at him one last time and convinced herself it was ok.
After all, it was a dream.
Nothing, but a dream
