The heart writes the words of the music that the soul dances to.

A father comes home,
His last day at work has just ended.
He fights to hold back the tears.
He has yet to let the kids know,
Their boisterous laughter can be heard resounding as they kick up snow.
He longs to keep them warm,
And longs to fill the role,
Or provider and caretaker
Of his tight-knit family,
His wife tries to encourage him,
Reminding him that he alone is not the family’s provider.
The God who said that a person’s faith can move mountains
Will surely move this one.
“But can it be so?” he questioned himself over and over.
So many are poor, hungry, and weak,
Unable to work, laugh, or play.
Where is He?
This God so grand, so strong, so forgiving?
He wondered aloud.
Unbeknownst to him, his child had been standing behind him,
With a small voice, the Holy Spirit spoke powerful words to the lost lamb,
“Daddy, do you want to hear my memory verse?”
“Yes my dear one” the sorrowed father replied.
With her hands clasped and eyes closed, the little one began to recite
“Trust in the Lord, and lean not on your own understanding.
But in all your ways acknowledge Him
And He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6”
He stood transfixed and deeply moved by the dearly needed message.
At that moment, he knew,
Everything would be just fine,
He just had to trust.

The author's comments:
When I wrote this poem, I wanted to write something that was relatable to today's world. The pressing issue of the country's economy came to mind and it started from there. Many people today have lost their jobs, fallen into bankruptcy, or have gone through many other pressing problems and feel that there is no hope. My poem is written to let them know that there is hope when you trust in God.

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13

This is very well-written, and as true as anything could ever be. I loved it.
