This Saddening Waltz
My heart is burning
 This familiar yearning
 More than ever, it’s returning
My soul fills with the music
The old remembered ballad of the love sick.

 Short staccato beats
 Fast-paced tempo creating heat
A muddled waltz with my heart I keep
A ¾ time with that allegro speed.

 Parts and scores
 Remembered old-time wars
A strangled, desperate series of chords
 This hope with no flight
Feels like a sad vibrato held in the night.

 Changing pace
 Facing fate
An andante 6/8 slows my hearts race
 No meaning or chance
 It’s happiness at first glance
Flying high C’s and trills to describe me
Now low A’s with flats and sad tones
 Confusing melodies
 These mixed signals consuming me.

 A remembered thought
Caring but still this song is blue
 Because you’ll never see me
 As I see you
 Realization brings 4/4
A desperate attempt to be happy once more
Allegretto beat, trying to be sweet
Life gives us hurdles in various forms
Unrequited love and high G flats
I’ll get over these burdens to reach allegro once more
But for now my heart stays sore
With this melancholy beat of 4/4.
