A proposal

Her face was hot,
Flushed red and lovely all the same,
She gave her bashful smile,
Looking up with kind eyes,
The color of cold steel.

Before her,
On one foot and one knee,
He held out the little blue box,
With a grin,
He pledged his life and love to her,
His grey-eyed girl.

Her russet hair stuck to her face from tears of ecstasy,
As she thrust out her hand to accept the band,
Of sliver with one humble diamond,
Gleaming on her finger,
Almost as much as her own eyes.

Anyone could tell their prolonged kiss,
Meant they wouldn’t part until death,
That they would last through times of hate,
When they would say things they didn’t mean,
And that they would look at one another the same way,
Until their hair turned a cold steel grey.

This I wrote for a journal in art class...we had to use the words: hot, cold, hate, love, hand , and foot
