Each moment was a stabbing reminder
Of her murderous unfaithfulness to him
Of her deadly intoxication with
Another love
Another life
Another poisonous desire rooted deep within;
She had been his Eve:
His roots in the earth and lights in the sky,
A Gift from the Father to a beloved son;
But with a deadly Metamorphosis grown in a hushed silence
And endless nights of whispered darkness,
His treasured gold slowly crumbled to ashes
And he could do nothing but prepare himself
For the day he could face his Maker
And turn away in sheer contempt.
