Moon of Night
Stretching beyond her reaches
As she glides momentously across the long stretch of land
Happy as she watches over her silent world
 Living the perfect dream.
Night wound around her like a gown
Looking down on pale yellow skin
 She dreamt of seeing daylight.

 Tune into silence would she
 On her duty at night
Without a care in the world
As she floats across the night sky
And if she was ever upset
It would all melt away here
 Never bored,
She would caress the night like a feather
Wrap her fingers around invisible air.

 But come morning again
 Sun brightening up the world
 He would broadcast himself
Way up high in the sky
 Taking over the night.
 Sulky became the moon
 Her night was suddenly over
 She felt tears
 Spilling down her face
For split seconds as she faded
 Into the shining light
 Of the sun.

 Thinking as she declined
Of what it would be like
 To be the sun
 Blazing light all the time
 Then she sank down
Into the depths of the Universe
 Until night comes again.
