Academic Weapon
Since the age of four,
I knew I was destined for more.
I would read and write,
sometimes out of spite,
for the little girls who said,
“You’ll just be a stay-at-home mom,
making the bed.”
I got a little older,
a bit bolder.
I was called an academic weapon,
never wasting a second.
But I soon learned
even a weapon has a cost,
a double-edged sword
leaving me exhausted,
a price I couldn’t afford.

I’m 16 and love writing about my experiences as a student, and as a teen girl. This poem reflects my journey of ambition and growth.
