We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are member of human race, and the human race is filled with passion. Medicine, Law, Business, Engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, love, romance, beauty, these are what we stay alive for.<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> ~Dead Poets Society.

SOMETIMES I THINK ABOUT HOW SOMEONE DIES EARLY, AND SOMEONE LIVES UNTIL 110. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THEM? IF WE BELIEVE WE ARE MADE IN PAIIRS, IF ALL OF US HAVE SOUL CONNECTIONS, THEN WHY DO SOME PEOPLE DIE BEFORE THEY EVEN MEET THEIRS? MAYBE SOULMATES ARE NOT ALWAYS THE SAME AGE. MAYBE THEY ARE NOT ALWAYS LOVERS, OR HUSBANDS, OR WIVES, OR ANY DEAR. I SAT ALL DAY THINKING ABOUT THIS — THOUGH I MUST SAY I DIDN'T BUT EVEN IF A LITTLE THAT'S NOT LONG ENOUGH, I DID WONDERED IF THE RED STRING KNEW FRICTION. MAYBE IT MEETS YOU WHEN YOU ARE TEN. MAYBE IT'LL TAKE AS LONG AS THE END, BUT WONDERING ABOUT IT, IS NOT A CONTEMPT. HOW LONG CAN IT BE STRECHED? TELL ME, HOW LONG CAN IT NOT BREAK AS FAR AS I SEE, IT HAS STRECHED OVERSEAS. THEY SAY YOU CAN CUT IT IF YOU SEE IT, MAYBE THAT'S WHY IT'S INVISIBLE. STILL THEY SAY ITS RED — THE BRIGHTEST COLOUR. ~EVANS. BLUE SOUL.

The author's comments:

This poem explores the idea of soul connections and the “red string” theory — questioning why some people leave the world before meeting those meant for them. It reflects on time, fate, and how connections may exist beyond romance or age, sometimes touching lives briefly but meaningfully.
