Orbit
Tossing and turning, cursed to sleeplessness every night
What will it take to get her out of his mind?
The Sun arrives, and the Moon and her stars clear the way
Yet he is still trapped with her in his thoughts, every passing day
The Sun spends his days pining over the Moon
Hoping to one day be the centre of her Orbit
But the Sun knows well that he should give up hope soon
Because the ultimate choice of the Moon,
Is for the Earth to be part of her circuit
‘Maybe one day,’ the Sun says
‘When all the stars align,
And fate is sealed to destiny,
The Moon will finally be mine,
And true love the constellations will see’

I am a 14 year old girl who loves to write. Here is a poem I wrote about yearning and doomed love with the sun and moon extended metaphor. Hope you enjoy it!
