a seed

she’s a seed

a seed that you just planted into the ground, ready to water her, so willing to sow her, you want to watch her become a beautiful flower that can keep giving her love and life to others just as you did to her

a seed that told you you were her favorite big flower and a seed that only you could hold when she cried

a seed that gave you handwritten cards and loving hugs and a seed that you traveled the world with, just the two of you

a seed that started to hate you after several years, who wanted nothing to do with you

a seed that only had you as a flower, who’s other protector wilted away

a seed that traded daddy-daughter days for drinking shots at parties, who traded plane rides to paris for plans with her friends

a seed that finally rings your doorbell after years and years of you watching her grow, watching her make bad mistakes and good decisions

a seed you see has become a beautiful flower, full of more life and happiness than you ever could’ve imagined

a seed that tells you she’s engaged, that she’s working for her dream company, that she’s living by the beach and surfing every day just like you both talked about long ago

a seed that tells you she’s sorry for how she acted, a seed that regrets how she treated her first love and her provider of life

a seed that you finally embrace after so long

a seed that you watched over for so long, unsure of if you were doing anything the right way

but you did

you let her grow
