What it Means to Love
There was a drought today.
Many of the farmers complained, but not me.
For I have learned how to build.
To create through the heat-driven pain.
I can plant aloe
To heal my aching skin.
I can plant lavender
To carry me to sleep.
And I can plant sage
To keep away the evil spirits.
We as people must face challenges
So we can
Learn,
Adapt,
And grow
Together.
But if you still do not want to face
The dry soil
Because of the burns it has left on your sole,
That is ok too.
We shouldn’t force ourselves to live in agony.
But then you must have the strength to pick up everything
And leave.
You cannot complain to farmers about the conditions
If you are still choosing to live in them
