TIME CAPSULE
TIME CAPSULE
So seemingly insignificant;
A small piece of bark
Sits quietly upon my record player,
Reminding me of a time
Where all was different.
The piece had been carved by man;
From a fallen tree, a rectangular shape.
Creating a landmark where vision
Becomes impaired by nightfall.
Trespassers beware.
There were few moments that day
Where smiles faded.
We laughed, climbed, and swung.
It was if all worry
Had simply disappeared.
To this day, I return
Only to find your outline grows older.
Different faces, though yours was near,
You hadn’t even realized your passing.
I wonder if we will return.
