her
Remains of a crushed mirror lay within her
Distorting everything that is seen by the eye
Accentuating each and every flaw
Turning perfect smiles crooked
And friendly glances to cruel stares
The broken look behind her eyes
Tells the story of her past
Her opinions shatter
As she slowly withdraws from what she has known by heart
Her world falls apart crumbling to ashes
Never was perfect, never perfect enough
Like a worn-out doll
Thread by thread she came apart
Slowly unraveling
Only weak strands holding her together
When she closes her eyes
There is a minuscule light
Glimmering in midst of the darkness
So close, yet out of reach
Her hand reaches out
Grasping for the tiny beam
But it flies away farther and farther
Fading as it goes
Her arm falls, limp upon the ground
And the last thing she feels is the cool, sharp breeze
