Between Us
Stars reflecting our sins within
the home we call sanctuary.
Down we look on each other,
behind reflections of frosted memories.
Colder than snow,
our bodies tainted by the wine we call life.
We speak with filthy mouths hungry,
starving for the eternity of space,
aching bones of pleated steel carrying
the weight of our shattered dreams.
Star-crossed stars rain down from up above.
As I reach in the depths, our hearts split
Apart. I could not find what I was looking for.
Eyes in the void.
…
Where did everyone go?
…
They died with the stars.

This piece was inspired by the game Among Us that went viral during the pandemic, and there are a lot of little game mechanics and design references in this poem! This is also one of my first pieces ever (I don't usually do creative writing) so I'm a little green at this.
