Curiosity
So wonderful it may feel
At the very start.
The tempting appeal
That’s difficult to thwart.
It feels like enlightenment,
Like your eyes are finally opening.
As if you’re finally in alignment
And in for an appealing awakening.
The compelling desire to learn
Seems illuminating at first.
Until its true colors burn
And reveal the worst.
You realize the extent of your wishes;
The endangerment you’re in.
The never ending spiral
Which goes on
And on
And on.
It’s like the glistening surface of a sea
Hiding its dangerous depths underneath.
Like a viper that seems colorful at first
Before unleashing its lethal venom.
It has the power
To tempt you,
As well as betray you.
