We Are...
Upon thinking, the realization
Of what we are sets in
Within the grand schema of the cosmos
We are but a speck
We exist one moment and are gone the next
Thinking we’ll leave our mark on time
Only to remember time’s a human construct
While some try to deduct
Our purpose for existence
I see that as a waste
Because that would just be erased
By the ending of humanity
And the answers unattainable
As humanity is sustainable
Though time is limited
And our knowledge
Yet in acknowledging
The speck that we are
We stop looking at the universe
And can disperse the curse
Of thinking about a time, we’ll never see
And can focus on the present
As well as the pleasant
Aspect of being a speck
We may be small
And we may never know-all
But that allows us
To notice the smallest of things
