New Love
Love yourself as if you've never seen a mirror, tranced by the sight of yourself
Each fold each scar each misplaced freckle
Love yourself like you love that little girl you used to be
She's beautiful, she's carefree, and she's so proud of what she's grown to be
She is mesmerized
The beauty that she found in the flowers, she sees in you
I tell her what we will face, she cries for me
You will wipe her tears and she will tell you
If it takes all that to become the person I see, it will all have been worth it
Love yourself as you love yourself
Love yourself like astronomers love the stars
Like the artists love paint
Like the writers love words
Because you are your body
Because you are alive
Because you've been through hell
Love yourself like you are essential
Because you are
