An Evening in London

You appear from the cries of the clouds,

Concealing me as if you are a blanket

As I run for cover, but secretly pray for more.

For I am absorbing you,

Rather than being absorbed,

And look around for a single soul in sight.

I am distracted

By the pungent sheet,

So rippled and veil-like,

Shattering on my frigid skin,

Rinsing my face,

The rain. The night has seeped into me,

For I am the rain.

The author's comments:

This poem was inspired by my attentiveness to rain, as well as my love for London. Hence, I combined the two to create a visual of a typical rainy evening in London.

Wow. This is so beautiful!! Your use of imagery is amazing: “the night has seeped into me/for I am the rain” “You appear from the cries of the clouds” I felt like I was there! Keep writing!!
