Long Lost Friend
Losing a friend you loved dearly, is almost as heartbreaking
As losing your first ever boyfriend/girlfriend in the seventh grade. As
People think nothing Is changing in the moment for them, they look back and realize
That nothing is the same as it was before. Picking up the red telephone, dangling from
The green smudges on the wall your brother had marked on, you cross your fingers
Hoping it’s a call from them saying they miss you. As you pick it up, you feel out of
Luck when it’s your sweet-eyed grandma wondering if Mom is home. As you
Drag your narrowed feet, painted with polka-a-dots on each toe, you pull out
The scrap book that you guys had made one summer afternoon. You come across the
Page where you glued down the red sucker wrappers you had saved from the candy store
That day. Reminiscing each and one of those memories in the thick, bended pages,
You start to feel a rush of tears drip onto the page. “What happened to us?”, you
Ask yourself. Feelings of eagerness and sadness want to reach the phone to ask
Why, but you will feel like a burden if you do so. As you fall fast asleep from
The endless tears, you wake up from a text message. “I miss you”, it reads. All the
Doubt and loneliness had now started to quickly vanish. You met ways once
And after all.
