Sorrows
It starts with a feeling
A gut-wrenching, stomach-dropping feeling
Like a shaken-up soda bottle trying to keep the top on
Somehow making your sorrows worsen
The tears prick at your eyes ready to run free
Eyes glistening with unshed distress
Blink Blink Blink
Somehow making your sorrows worsen
Chanting mantras to yourself
Don’t cry, it’s okay, keep your cool
Don’t let them see how you’re slowly breaking right before their eyes
Somehow making your sorrows worsen
Feeling eyes look at you from all around
They’re probably judging you, taunting you
But are they really looking or are your eyes playing tricks?
Somehow making your sorrows worsen
Breathing faster
Gasping for air the feeling is smothering
Your lungs feel twisted
Somehow making your sorrows worsen
Are you having a heart attack?
Can someone die from holding back emotions?
Emotions you don’t want to face
Somehow making your sorrows worsen
Maybe you should embrace the feeling
The gut-wrenching, stomach-dropping feeling
Pop the top off the soda bottle
