The Glorious Gulf Shores

Bright blue ocean gleaming in the sunlight,
smooth sand seeping through my fingers,
rough rocks protruding from the water,
as the waves crash down at my feet.
Big boats traveling in the horizon,
two tall shadows looming over me,
protruding pier stretching beyond the shoreline,
frustrated fisherman casting a line,
as another wave crashes down at my feet.
I see through the eyes of my eight year old self,
I see the memories I made on this beach,
I smell the familiar salty scents,
I smell the crispness of the early morning air,
as I jump over the next incoming wave.
