Cycles

    Life begins

An egg, as small as the nail of a

    Pinky finger

          Reaching out at me

       From baby-soft skin to

Scales, antenna, delicate wings

Prettier than anyone hopes to be

A young butterfly

              Life continues

A child grows, a baby learns

       Ideas, independence

   Separation

       the child separates

From their parents, their world

Expanding

   A butterfly learns to fly

     A baby learns to walk

  A butterfly learns to soar

    A child learns to run

The world learns to change
