A Nighttime Prayer of Her from Him
Please, God, let me dream about her eyes tonight.
Make fog, bend, create a beam, just let me feel her bite.
In bed, hug nothing, imprint her in my flesh.
Peach fuzz, fingernails, hot blood, and silky cotton press.
Will she feel my admiration, paper cut vein neck?
Roll over the iris moon can’t dampen her statuesque.
And if I wake before the sun, when it never heats the sky?
Let her keep me locked in her, for I will never die.
Amen.

This poem was inspired by dreams and wanting to specifically dream about the person you love, to be with them longer. It was formatted in prayer because when I was younger, and still, if I want to dream about something specific, it's always second nature for me to ask God to fill my dreams with such.
