Never Alone

The journey unknown

A path, with twists and turns

Forks in the road

All we can do

Is trust that we find home

Here, we can roam

Where are you, comfort?

Is that you, safety?

I can sense you, solace

Beneath the veil

Of overwhelm

I see your familiar face

Through a subtle embrace

If we are blessed

- And, we are

If we hold space

- And we can

For ourselves and each other

Never alone

Dare to look up and around

To find

We are in harmony

We are one

It is hard, so hard

Often, sometimes, always

Range of emotions

Like colors in the galaxy

Sweep in like a breeze

Or hit us like a truck

With no notice

And lack of focus

Stand tall, stand grounded

On shaky legs or solid feet

Like the oak and the willow

Close your eyes and face the sky

Feel the light

Pulsate through you

With knowing from beyond

Comes the message from above

We are in harmony

We are one

The author's comments:

This is a piece I wrote earlier this [long] winter. It reflects my emotions about light in times of darkness, and how we can all use a gentle reminder to "look up". Sometimes when we feel alone, it's easy to forget that others walk a similar path - often beside us.
