"The American Dream"
As a kid I was told about the American Dream.
What is the American Dream?
It’s the Dream to have a luxurious life.
It’s the Dream to have an education.
It’s the Dream to have the freedom they always preach about.
It’s the Dream life everyone wants,
But they don’t know the real American Dream.
The Dream is to have a voice.
The Dream is hoping you have enough motivation to keep going.
The Dream is hoping you have money for food and rent this month.
The Dream is hoping the people of this free country won’t do each other any harm,
But they don’t know that.
They don’t know the real American Dream.
It’s ok though,
Since every country has flaws
like the people do.

I'm a first generation immigrants from Vietnam, and as a kid I was told many time I'm very lucky to be able to move to the U.S. I didn't really understand why until my mom said that it's for a better future for the family, she said the country will able to help me become successful. I finally understand why she said that, but I also saw and experienced the ugly side of America. To many foreigners America is a great country with great freedom, which is true. Following that freedom is many other uglier things that they don't see.
