Love Songs
So many love songs have been written
All so enthralled with another person
Talking about how they have been so smitten
And all of their overexertion
Starting with the first sight
And having a new hope
Filling up hearts with a happy light
Though it’ll be just another haunt
Spending time with someone
When they spend none with you
You thought that you’d become one
Now all you see is blue
But what do I know?
This is just what I’ve been told:
That love has changed from years ago
It used to be you’re with someone and grow until you’re old
So many love songs have been written
Each from a prominent feeling
Saying that they’ve been bitten
With love, but all that’s left is healing

My name is Victoria Passo, and I'm a Middle Creek High School sophomore. I'm in five clubs at my school; Latin club, SGA, Women's Empowerment, Crochet Club, and Mental Health Awareness Club. Outside of school, I spend my time at my dance studio or reading books. I wrote this piece during my Creative Writing class, which is definitely one of my favorite classes this semester. My teacher has pushed me to write to my full extent, which is particularly helpful since I enjoy writing and English classes the most! Thank you for considering publishing my poem.
