Flustered
Our slow dance
Was supposed to be a joke
But the feelings it awoke
Were more like romance
When you say hi
I get so flustered
It’s all I can do to muster
A shy wave and quiet reply
Bright green eyes capture mine
A smile breaks your gameface
That’s a feeling nothing can ever erase
I will buy you flowers, hold your hand, take you to every party – anything to make you shine
Every new memory we make
I wonder if this could become something more
But if you reflect my love, and walk out that door
I would not survive the heartbreak
So I don’t want this feeling
I may take this secret to the grave
Because I’m not brave
This wasted energy should have been used to start healing
Yet
A well timed wink
And I’m laughing, cheeks pink
Like a hopeless romantic with a crush I can’t seem to forget
