Six is in heaven
It’s been 3 months since you left and it still hurts
Watching your brother with his floppy ears just like yours
Everyone has accepted that you’re gone
I have too but every once in a while my feelings come back
And I cry
It’s been 3 months since I said goodbye to you
And still the smallest things remind me of your loveliness
Everyone except me has moved on
I feel guilty for cuddling a different dog in your favorite spot
And I cry
It’s been 3 months since our last walk together
I finally had the courage to start going on walks with him
But it feels wrong, knowing
I never knew it was our last walk until your time ended
And I cry
It’s been 3 months: “Six is in heaven”, I’m sure you are
But couldn’t you stay down here with me a little longer?
Did you have to go so suddenly?
“We’ll put her down”, that broke me knowing it’s over
And I cry

I lost my dog which was really sad, and I think writing about it helps me to cope with that loss. Fly high my little angel. She's lived 14 years.
