Anna
It was at HOBY, when we first met
Struck out like a home run, I won’t forget
Since then, we ran with it, point after point,
till match point was there, everything was set
You lovely short, blond haired, fellow
characteristically cheery for someone as tall
Always bright, never mellow,
you would always be happy when I call
Soon came the struggle,
it hit like a flood
The pounding and crashing,
life came in with a thud
The entrance of school, stress
She became a mess
Inconsistent messages,
like a shadow in a dress
Anna, my watchtower in the sky
Watching over me all day and night
In the arc of the harsh, bright light
You stand there, silent and upright
Despite all the height
You lean on the railing
Staring in the distance
At something prevailing
Perhaps work, perhaps stress, perhaps life,
The very thing that made you a mess
But you will make it through that strife
I have hope in you, and nothing less
Chorus
My dear Anna, forever apart
My cornerstone, my Eden
Our connection, now depart
